Providing comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams, and retinal imaging inside Santee Costco. No Costco membership required.

INSURANCE
As of January 1, 2026, our clinic is a provider for:
-
Vision Service Plan (VSP)
-
Costco Employee Vision Plan
-
Tricare Prime
VSP plans are reported by the policy holder's full name, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of their social security number. Please have this information available when you book your appointment.
If you participate in a different vision plan, we can provide you with an itemized invoice to submit for reimbursement.
Please note that because we are independent from Costco, we do not accept the same vision plans as the Costco Optical department.
If you have any questions, you can e-mail us at team@truenortheyecare.com or call us at 619-613-2020 to speak to any of our staff.
Notice to Our United Healthcare Patients
Effective January 1, 2026, our clinic will no longer participate in the UnitedHealthcare Spectera Vision plan for exam benefits.
You may still use your materials benefit at Costco Optical, and we encourage you to do so. You may use your exam benefit at an outside clinic and then return to Santee Costco Optical with your prescription to order eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Please utilize the Spectera website's provider search to find a doctor that accepts Spectera — the search will include the eye doctors located inside the Fletcher Parkway and Moreno Blvd Costcos.
Why We Made This Change
We reached this decision with disappointment and careful consideration. Spectera reduced the fees paid to our clinic, despite ongoing inflation and rising operational costs.
Our practice is built on providing exceptional care and service for Costco members and maintaining a positive, fair workplace for our team. Accepting Spectera’s lower reimbursement would not allow us to uphold these standards.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding.
